Graduation internship from: Remy Pas

Software development comes with many challenges, especially when you do something that is so different from the rest. One of these is developing something that puts the user first. How do you ensure that your users know where they can find what, how to interact with the platform and how do you ensure that they feel taken seriously? These complex questions are an on-going process in the world of software development, The Imagineers is no different. In order to guarantee at all times that the user experience of our platforms meets our own standards, we have teamed up with one of the best user interface/user experience designers, Remy Pas.

Remy Pas

Who is Remy?

Hi! I am Remy, currently a student at NHL Stenden in Leeuwarden. I am currently studying Communication & Multimedia Design and focusing on game design and UI/UX. I am a real cat lover and enjoy 3D printing and building keyboards in my spare time!

What will you do during your graduation internship at The Imagineers?

I am going to focus on a product that is not yet on the market. I will ensure that you as a user can navigate here easily, clearly and pleasantly! For me it is important that the user feels comfortable with the resources we provide!

Why?

All my life I have been a person who cares about several technical gadgets. And although I sometimes want to talk passionately about my hobbies and learning insights, I understand that it is not so obvious for everyone to be able to use these resources. As a result, I started to explore the possibilities to make this more accessible to everyone. That's how I ended up with user interface and user experience. The name actually says it all; user experience!

I am also a trained designer and I like to make beautiful things for people who need logos, for example.

How did you come to us to do your graduation internship here?

Actually through fellow graduate Dirk! We wanted to graduate together because we complement each other well. Dirk is a great programmer and I can then focus on the user experience. Dirk previously completed an internship at The Imagineers and he really enjoyed it. So when he got a call asking him to graduate here, we immediately jumped into the starting blocks!

How do you like that?

So far I'm really liking it! The team is fun, skilled and also very helpful! Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees and it can be difficult to keep an overview. But no matter who you speak to within The Imagineers, they are all ready to help you one by one. In addition, the team is also very nice. I quickly felt welcome at The Imagineers!

What are you like as a 3D artist?

I am someone who likes to look at trends and modernizations. I do not hesitate to use tools such as research by design. In this way I always keep iterating and always try to improve my work!

What do you want to learn during your graduation internship?

I hope to be able to learn more about Unreal Engine 5 while I'm working on this, but the focus I want to delve into further is more towards user experience. The digital world continues to innovate, so standing still is not an option. I always want to keep looking at what's new and learning about it. And, who knows, I might even learn a little Python!

What will your working life look like in two years?

It would be nice if I could continue with what I am doing now. Helping people by making resources more accessible to everyone. But for me nothing is “set in stone”. I'm also open to things like graphic design. I like to be open to new challenges!
