Middelsee is a new sustainable district of Leeuwarden, directly below the Van Harinxma Canal. This new district will have no less than 3200 homes, which are still under development. The first homes are built in Havensted en Wettersted. Themes such as natural gas-free living, sustainability and new forms of housing are also being considered.
Middelsee is compactly set up as a sustainable district, but with plenty of water and green facilities. The Area Participation Platform has been deployed to communicate all upcoming changes with the environment. Within this platform, changes are visualized in a 3D environment. Various information sources have been added, such as animation videos, images, and text.
In addition to future changes in the living environment, the current and old situation have also been mapped out by The Imagineers. Visitors can form an honest picture of the upcoming developments.
